Full definition
A bottleneck is the constraint that keeps a system from producing better results. In income work, the bottleneck may be weak demand, low-quality leads, poor conversion, unclear pricing, or an operational delivery limit.
Why it matters
Improving any step other than the constraint produces activity without changing the outcome.
Example
If proposals convert poorly, generating more leads increases work without increasing signed projects.
